Our Vision
Imagine an education programme that engages young people with their world; where the misconceptions of the Middle East and the melting icecaps compete for attention with Britney’s latest rehab adventure or the crisis of whether you have added your 7,268th ‘friend’ on My Space; where the information is generated for young people by young people away from the agenda of governments and news organisations.
The Digital Explorer™ is that education programme and we have a vision that every child in the world can learn from their peers using the power of the latest internet, satellite and digital media technologies.
Work with us to build a series of educational expeditions that help young people across the globe tackle the issues that affect us all.
The educational imperative
The Digital Explorer™ project is founded on a logical necessity. In our increasingly globalised world, we face the twin issues of the environment and cultural conflict. For the planet to progress, we must engage young people in the world around them.
We are competing for attention from the likes of YouTube, My Space, and Playstations. Young people are losing faith in adult commentators, journalists and politicians to tell them the truth.
The solution is therefore an education programme that:
- is centred around pupil-to-pupil learning
- encompasses the developments in social networking and online file-sharing
- is visually engaging
- allows young people to learn about the world on their own terms.
